Get a complete detail about Toronto garden centre

In Canada there is much to discover. It is a great country that awaits many interesting things in terms of culture, gastronomy, art, society, history ... And that is why we are going to talk about a type of city, the most curious cities there: the underground cities of Canada (which is also the largest in the world is located there, in Montreal).

The Toronto garden centre (Toronto Botanical Garden or TBG) is more than just a sample of award-winning gardens. It is also a centre for environmental education, with a focus on organic and sustainable gardening. Go through the 17 thematic sections and learn about local plants and nature in general.

The TBG covers an area of more than one and a half hectares (four acres) and seeks to educate visitors. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit the garden and enjoy the pleasant weather and the beautiful natural displays of colour. During these months, you can also participate in a free 90-minute guided tour with a volunteer, to learn more about the designs and plants that have won awards.

Enter the Arrival Courtyard and study its geometric sculpture hedge, which is illuminated at night.

Local landscape architect Martin Wade and Dutch gardener Piet Oudolf decorated the courtyard. Oudolf also created the Entry Garden Walk with plants that provide themselves with seeds.

If you are an observer of birds, follow the path Woodland Walk. This is a replica of the Carolina Forest, a habitat in eastern Canada and the United States, and it attracts many varieties of birds. The Beryl Ivey Knot garden shows influences from the 16th century European gardens of England, France and Italy. Enjoy panoramic views of the gardens from the Spiral Mound viewpoint.

Check the website for the events that will take place during your visit, including outdoor summer concerts on Thursday nights. In the Summer Nature Day Camps for young people, children can learn about plants, fossils and animals in the Teaching Garden. An Organic Farmers Market takes place between May and October, where you will find bread, cheeses and other locally produced foods. You can also buy seasonal food at the Garden Café.

Located in Edwards Gardens, Toronto garden centre is a 20-minute drive from downtown Toronto. Public buses stop at the main entrance. Alternatively, rent a bicycle and pedal from the city centre through Sunnybrook and Wicket Creek parks.

The Toronto Botanical Garden is open every day, from sunrise to sunset. The coffee has shorter operating hours and closes from November to April. The library, the store and the reception have varying schedules, so check the website for exact hours. The park is free and is financed almost entirely by donations and by the subscriptions of its members.

The design of the building emphasizes the use of repetition, symmetry and contrast. There are two main entrances are located in the south and north of the main facade with the ornamentation both above the entrance doors. The same materials are used for the two entrances with a repetitive pattern of coating wood structure in the space between the doors.
